Information We Collect

1. Account information

   • What we collect: Name, email address, and profile details you provide when you sign up (including via Google or other sign-in providers).
   • Purpose: Create and secure your account, send service notices, and provide support.

2. Uploaded files and translation content

   • What we collect: EPUB or PDF files you upload, extracted text, language settings, and generated translations (including free preview pages and full-book outputs).
   • Purpose: Run translation jobs, show previews, deliver downloadable results, and (when applicable) reuse a translation you already paid for from cache so you are not charged twice for the same book and language pair.

3. Usage and transaction details

   • What we collect: Feature usage (uploads, previews, full translations), credit balances, order history, and related timestamps.
   • Purpose: Operate billing, prevent abuse, improve reliability, and support your account.

4. Device and log information

   • What we collect: IP address, browser type, device type, approximate location derived from IP, and basic request logs.
   • Purpose: Security, fraud prevention, debugging, and service optimization.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

   • What we collect: Session and preference cookies needed to keep you signed in and remember locale or UI settings.
   • Purpose: Authentication and a working product experience. We do not use cookies to sell your personal information.

6. Payment information

   • What we collect: We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers. Payments are processed by PayPal (or other processors we enable). We may store payment status, transaction IDs, plan/credit pack purchased, and amounts needed for receipts and support.
   • Purpose: Complete purchases of translation credits and resolve billing issues.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information above to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve TranslateEPUB
• Process free previews and paid full-book translations
• Manage credits, checkout, and receipts
• Detect abuse, enforce our Terms of Service, and protect the service
• Respond to support requests
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information.

AI Translation and Service Providers

To translate your ebook, we send text (and related job metadata) to third-party AI or infrastructure providers that process data on our behalf—for example cloud storage, authentication, payment, and translation APIs. These providers may process data in regions where they operate. We only share what is needed to perform the requested translation or run the product.

Uploaded books and translations may be stored in object storage (such as Cloudflare R2) so you can download results and so we can serve cached translations you already purchased.

Data Retention and Deletion

• Account data is kept while your account is active and as needed for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention reasons after closure.
• Uploaded source files and translation outputs are retained so you can re-download results and so paid cache entries can work. You can delete your stored translation copies anytime from Settings → Translations.
• Payment records may be retained as required for accounting and dispute handling.

If you want your account removed, email [email protected]. We will delete or anonymize personal data where we are not required to keep it.

Information Sharing

We may share information only when:

• You ask us to (for example, support troubleshooting)
• A processor needs it to run the service (hosting, storage, auth, payments, translation)
• Required by law or to respond to valid legal process
• Needed to protect TranslateEPUB, our users, or the public against fraud or security threats
• In connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale (with notice where required)

Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal data, or to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact [email protected]. You can also sign out, update profile details in settings, and delete stored translation copies under Settings → Translations.

Children’s Privacy

TranslateEPUB is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

International Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. We take steps reasonably designed to protect it in line with this policy and applicable law.

Security

We use industry-standard measures such as encrypted transport (HTTPS), access controls, and least-privilege practices. No online service is perfectly secure; please keep your login credentials confidential.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised date. Continued use of TranslateEPUB after changes means you accept the updated policy.
